Capturing a gold mine provides additional hourly gold income for up to twelve hours.
As of Patch 5.5, Gold Mines have been removed from the game.
Capturing and Occupation:
Gold mines can be found in random places around the Wilds [Hot-key: Q]. Once a gold mine is found, the mine's BattleRating, the amount of gold obtained per hour, and the mine's remaining duration, can be viewed by hovering the mouse over it. Once the gold mine is clicked on, an attack button will display which allows the player to attack, and thus, capture the gold mine.
An unoccupied gold mine is guarded by a single monster of similar level, but not necessarily the same level, as the mine. An occupied gold mine is guarded by the occupying player. Attacking a player occupied mine forces the two players to duel. The winner takes over the gold mine for the remaining duration.
A player can only have two gold mines at a time. A list of a player's current gold mines, and their locations, are displayed in the Town Hall in the player's City. In order to abandon a gold mine, the player must locate the mine in the wilds and select "Abondon Mine." Or click on the red X next to the gold mine listed in their Town Hall.
A level 1 gold mine provides 40 gold per hour, and every level after that provides an additional 80 gold per hour. The highest level gold mine, level 60 (which is only found in the lvl 51+ area: Erandel,) provides 4760 Gold/h.
